The Knights of Columbus continue to invite Catholic men into a deeper life of faith through the COR initiative — a spiritual formation movement whose name comes from the Latin word for “heart.” COR is more than a program or study group. It is an invitation to conversion of heart, fraternity, prayer, and authentic Catholic discipleship.
At our parish, COR has become a place where men gather not only to learn about the faith, but to encounter Christ personally through prayer, Scripture, brotherhood, and the sacramental life of the Church.
Each month, we begin with the Divine Liturgy at 9:00 AM, placing Christ and the Eucharist at the center of everything we do. From the altar we continue into fellowship over coffee and open discussion — simple, honest conversations about faith, family, struggles, vocation, and daily Christian life.
There is no pressure and no expectation of perfection. COR is a place for ordinary men seeking to grow closer to God together.
COR was launched by the Knights of Columbus as a parish-based initiative for Catholic men centered on:
The purpose of COR is simple: to help men become better sons, husbands, fathers, grandfathers, brothers, and disciples of Jesus Christ.
The heart of COR is not activism or meetings alone, but spiritual transformation rooted in Christ. Men today carry many burdens — work, family responsibilities, loneliness, uncertainty, cultural confusion, and often silent suffering. COR seeks to provide a place where men rediscover that they do not walk alone.
Every authentic renewal in the Church begins with prayer.
For that reason, our gatherings are intentionally centered around:
We strive to build fraternity not merely as friendship, but as spiritual brotherhood rooted in Christ.
As men pray together, they begin to support one another more deeply — learning how to carry burdens, strengthen families, and live the Gospel with courage and humility.
Our present formation journey continues through the Knights of Columbus study series:
This study invites men to encounter Christ through Sacred Scripture and to rediscover the foundations of Catholic faith.
We began at the very heart of Christianity: the Gospel.
Reflecting on the Road to Emmaus, the proclamation of the Apostles, and Christ revealed in Word and Sacrament, we were reminded that Christianity does not begin with rules, politics, or mere moralism.
Christianity begins with Jesus Christ.
The Good News is that:
Before a man can truly lead others, he must first encounter Christ himself.
From there, we continued into the deeper question of identity:
Who am I?
Modern society often tells men that their worth comes from success, money, power, productivity, or social status. The Gospel teaches something radically different.
Every human person is created intentionally in the image and likeness of God.
Our dignity comes first from being beloved sons of the Heavenly Father.
This truth changes how we understand:
Saint Augustine wrote:
“Our hearts are restless until they rest in You.”
COR calls men back to that truth.

Inspired by Alberta’s waters, seasons, and the Gospel image of Christ calling fishermen, this path reminds us that faith is learned patiently — often quietly — through perseverance, discipline, prayer, and trust in God.
Like fishermen casting nets into deeper waters, men are called to go deeper spiritually:
Our spirituality is deeply rooted in the Ukrainian Greek Catholic tradition and the beauty of the Christian East:
At the same time, we embrace the fullness of the Catholic Church, drawing from both Eastern and Western traditions — “breathing with both lungs,” as taught by Pope John Paul II.
This allows men from many backgrounds to feel welcome and spiritually nourished.
Our parish community includes many newcomers to Canada, especially families affected by war, displacement, and instability.
For many men, COR becomes more than a study group. It becomes:

Knights of Columbus продовжують запрошувати чоловіків до глибшого духовного життя через ініціативу COR — формаційну програму, назва якої походить від латинського слова «серце». COR — це не просто програма чи біблійне коло. Це шлях навернення серця, братерства, молитви та справжнього християнського учнівства.
У нашій парафії COR стало місцем, де чоловіки збираються не лише для того, щоб більше дізнатися про віру, але насамперед — щоб особисто зустріти Христа через молитву, Святе Письмо, братерство та сакраментальне життя Церкви.
Щомісяця ми розпочинаємо Божественною Літургією о 9:00 ранку, ставлячи Христа і Євхаристію в центр усього, що робимо. Після молитви збираємося на каву та відкриту братню розмову — просту й щиру бесіду про віру, родину, труднощі, покликання та щоденне християнське життя.
Тут немає тиску чи вимоги бути «ідеальним». COR — це простір для звичайних чоловіків, які прагнуть разом зростати ближче до Бога.
COR було започатковано Knights of Columbus як парафіяльну ініціативу для чоловіків, основану на:
Мета COR проста: допомогти чоловікам стати кращими синами, чоловіками, батьками, дідусями, братами та учнями Ісуса Христа.
Серцем COR є не активізм чи самі зустрічі, а духовне преображення в Христі. Сьогодні чоловіки несуть багато тягарів — працю, родинні обов’язки, самотність, невизначеність, внутрішню боротьбу та часто мовчазні страждання. COR прагне стати місцем, де чоловік знову відкриває, що він не йде дорогою життя сам.
Кожне справжнє відновлення в Церкві починається з молитви.
Саме тому наші зустрічі зосереджені на:
Ми прагнемо будувати не просто дружбу, а духовне братерство, rooted in Christ.
Коли чоловіки моляться разом, вони починають підтримувати один одного глибше — вчаться нести труднощі, зміцнювати родини та жити Євангелієм з мужністю й покорою.
Наша теперішня духовна подорож продовжується через програму:
Цей курс допомагає чоловікам зустріти Христа через Святе Письмо та заново відкрити основи католицької віри.
Ми розпочали із самого центру християнства — Євангелія.
Роздумуючи над дорогою до Емаусу, проповіддю апостолів та Христом, Який об’являється у Слові й Таїнстві, ми пригадали головне: християнство не починається з правил чи моральних вимог.
Християнство починається з Ісуса Христа.
Добра Новина полягає в тому, що:
Перш ніж чоловік зможе вести інших, він сам повинен зустріти Христа.
Потім ми перейшли до глибшого питання:
Хто я?
Сучасний світ часто переконує чоловіка, що його цінність залежить від успіху, грошей, влади чи статусу. Євангеліє говорить щось зовсім інше.
Кожна людина створена Богом навмисно — на Його образ і подобу.
Наша гідність походить насамперед із того, що ми — улюблені сини Небесного Отця.
Ця правда змінює наше бачення:
Святий Августин писав:
«Неспокійне серце наше, доки не спочине в Тобі.»
Саме до цієї правди COR повертає чоловіка.
У майбутніх зустрічах ми поступово будемо розглядати:
Наша довготривала духовна програма також пов’язана з місцевою ініціативою:
Натхненна природою Альберти та євангельським образом рибалок, ця духовна дорога нагадує нам, що віра зростає терпеливо — через молитву, витривалість, дисципліну та довіру Богові.
Як рибалки закидають сіті у глибину, так і чоловік покликаний іти у глибину духовного життя:
Наша духовність глибоко вкорінена в традиції Української Греко-Католицької Церкви:
Водночас ми черпаємо з багатства всієї Католицької Церкви, «дихаючи двома легенями», як навчав Pope John Paul II.
Саме тому чоловіки різного походження можуть тут почуватися духовно вдома.
У нашій парафії багато новоприбулих до Канади, особливо сімей, які пережили війну, втрату дому чи нестабільність.
Для багатьох чоловіків COR стає:
Тут чоловіки можуть ділитися досвідом, підтримувати один одного та поступово будувати нове життя.
Сучасний чоловік часто мовчки носить у серці багато запитань:
COR створює простір для цих запитань.
Це місце, де чоловіки можуть:
Наразі ми зустрічаємося раз на місяць. Якщо Господь благословить наше братерство і воно зростатиме — будемо розширювати можливості для молитви, навчання та спільноти.
Незалежно від того, чи ви:
ви є бажаними.
Приходьте молитися разом з нами.
Приходьте на каву та братню розмову.
Приходьте заново відкрити Христа.
Зростаймо разом — від серця до серця, COR до COR.
