Today the Church celebrates the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, the birth of Mary, the Mother of God. It is a feast of quiet joy, because in the birth of this child we see the dawn of God’s saving plan drawing near.
The Church’s hymnography calls Mary the New Eve. Through Eve, humanity turned away from God; through Mary’s humble “yes,” the way was opened for the Son of God to become human. The troparion beautifully proclaims: “From you dawned the Sun of Righteousness, Christ our God.” Mary is the dawn; Christ is the Light.
The Church also praises the Mother of God as a holy garden and paradise prepared by God, in which the Tree of Life would grow. That Tree is Christ Himself, who came to restore what was lost and to give us eternal life.
Mary’s birth therefore reminds us that God does not abandon His creation or His people. His promises are fulfilled in ways that often begin quietly—in a family, in the birth of a child, in a heart willing to trust Him.
Join us this evening, September 8, at 7:00 PM at Saint Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church as we gather in prayer and thanksgiving to celebrate the Nativity of the Mother of God. Let us rejoice with Joachim and Anna and ask the Mother of God to lead us always closer to her Son, Jesus Christ.

Сьогодні Церква радісно святкує Різдво Пресвятої Богородиці, народження Марії — Матері Божої. Це свято тихої, але великої радості, бо з народженням Діви починає світати світанок Божого спасіння.
У своїх піснеспівах Церква називає Марію Новою Євою. Там, де через непослух Єви людство віддалилося від Бога, через смиренне «Нехай мені станеться» Марії відкривається дорога для приходу Спасителя. Марія — світанок, а Христос — Сонце Правди.
Церква також прославляє Пречисту Діву як святий сад Божий, у якому проростає Дерево Життя — Христос. Він приходить, щоб відновити те, що було втрачене, і дарувати нам життя вічне.
Тому сьогодні радіймо разом із праведними Йоакимом та Анною. Нехай Різдво Богородиці нагадає нам, що Бог не залишає Свого творіння і завжди веде нас до світла Свого спасіння.
Запрошуємо сьогодні, 8 вересня, о 19:00 до храму Святого Миколая на спільну молитву і святкування Різдва Пресвятої Богородиці. Через молитви Пречистої Діви нехай Господь веде кожного з нас ближче до Свого Сина — Ісуса Христа.
