SUMMARY:The Nativity of Saint John the Baptist @ 7 PM
DESCRIPTION:🌿 The Nativity of Saint John the Baptist\nA Feast of Light\, Preparation\, and Joy\nOn June 24\, the Church celebrates something very rare. \nIt does not celebrate the death of a saint. \nIt celebrates a birth. \nThe birth of\nJohn the Baptist. \nAnd not just any birth—but the birth of the one who prepares the way for Jesus Christ. \n\n\n\n🌿 Who is John the Baptist?\nMany people know his name\, but not his story. \nJohn is the one who stands at the edge of the Gospel. \nHe does not yet announce Jesus directly at the beginning of the story—but he prepares everything so that people are ready to receive Him. \nThat is why the Church calls him: \n👉 The Forerunner \n👉 The Voice in the wilderness \n👉 The one who prepares the way \nHe is like someone standing at the door\, saying: \n“Get ready. Someone important is coming.” \n\n\n\n👶 A Miraculous Beginning\nJohn’s parents were elderly and had no children. \nHis father was a priest named\nZechariah. \nWhile he was serving in the Temple in Jerusalem\, something extraordinary happened: \nAn angel appeared and told him: \n“Your wife will have a son.” \nZechariah did not believe it. \nAnd because of his doubt\, he became unable to speak. \nFrom that moment\, he lived in silence. \nNot as punishment alone—but as preparation. \nSometimes God prepares people in silence before He reveals something great. \n\n\n\n🌿 A Child Named by Heaven\nWhen the child was born\, everyone expected him to be named after his father. \nBut his mother said: \n“No. His name is John.” \nWhen Zechariah confirmed this in writing\, something incredible happened: \nHis voice returned. \nAnd the first thing he did was bless God. \nFrom silence came praise. \n\n\n\n🌊 A Life Pointing to Christ\nJohn grew up in the wilderness. \nHe lived simply. \nHe preached a simple message: \n👉 Turn back to God\n👉 Change your heart\n👉 Prepare for the Lord \nPeople came from all around to hear him. \nSome even thought he might be the Messiah. \nBut John always said clearly: \n“No. I am not the one you are waiting for.” \nAnd then he pointed to Jesus and said: \n\n“Behold the Lamb of God.” \n\nThat is the center of his entire life. \nHe does not draw attention to himself. \nHe points to Christ. \n\n\n\n🌿 Why the Church Celebrates His Birth\nMost saints are remembered on the day they died. \nBut the Church celebrates John’s birth because his life is deeply connected to Jesus from the very beginning. \nThe Gospel tells us something important: \nWhen Mary was expecting Jesus\, she visited Elizabeth\, who was expecting John. \nAt that moment\, John “leaped” in his mother’s womb. \nThe Church sees this as a sign: \n👉 Even before birth\, John already recognizes Jesus. \nHis whole life is already turned toward Christ. \n\n\n\n🌞 A Quiet Meaning in the Timing of the Feast\nJohn’s feast is celebrated on June 24\, close to the longest days of light in the year. \nAfter that day\, daylight slowly begins to decrease. \nThen comes Christmas in winter—when days begin to grow longer again. \nChristians have long reflected on this pattern. \nIt connects beautifully to John’s own words: \n\n“He must increase\, and I must decrease.” \n\nThis is not a scientific rule. \nIt is a spiritual reflection. \nA way of saying: \n👉 John prepares the way\n👉 Jesus is the true Light \n\n\n\n📖 A Real Story in Real History\nThe Gospel is very clear that John’s story is not a legend. \nIt takes place in real places: \n\nthe Temple in Jerusalem\na priestly family\na real historical time under King Herod\n\nThis reminds us that our faith is not based on ideas alone. \nIt is based on God entering real human history. \n\n\n\n💧 What This Feast Means for Us\nThe Nativity of Saint John the Baptist is not only about him. \nIt is also about us. \nBecause John’s message is still the same: \n👉 Prepare your heart\n👉 Turn back to God\n👉 Make space for Christ \nAnd maybe the simplest lesson is this: \nJohn shows us how to live a life that is not centered on ourselves. \nA life that points beyond us. \nA life that says: \n\n“It is not about me. It is about Christ.” \n\n\n\n\n🌿 Final Thought\nJohn’s birth is like the first light before sunrise. \nNot the sun itself. \nBut the sign that the sun is coming. \nAnd so the Church celebrates him with joy. \nBecause every time we remember John the Baptist\, we are reminded of this truth: \nChrist is coming. \nChrist is near. \nAnd our lives are meant to prepare the way.
