SUMMARY:Rosary Prayer
DESCRIPTION:Join Us for the Rosary Prayer Before Divine Liturgy\nAs we gather in faith\, we invite you to participate in our Rosary Prayer Before Divine Liturgy\, a special opportunity to prepare our hearts and minds for worship. This sacred time of prayer is open to all\, providing a space for reflection\, devotion\, and community connection. \nA Sacred Tradition \nThe rosary is a powerful form of prayer that has been cherished in the Catholic tradition for centuries. By praying the rosary\, we meditate on the life of Jesus Christ and the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This beautiful devotion helps us deepen our relationship with God\, fostering a sense of peace and spiritual clarity. In our parish\, we honour this tradition by offering a communal rosary prayer before each Divine Liturgy. \nPreparing for Worship \nThe Rosary Prayer Before Divine Liturgy serves as an essential preparation for the liturgical celebration that follows. As we come together to pray\, we create an atmosphere of reverence and unity within our community. Each bead of the rosary represents a moment of contemplation\, allowing us to reflect on the mysteries of faith and the love of God. \nThis time of prayer is not only a personal journey but also a collective experience that strengthens our bonds as a parish community. We encourage everyone to participate\, whether you are a long-time member of our parish or a newcomer seeking a deeper understanding of our faith. \nPraying for Peace and Guidance \nDuring the rosary\, we lift our intentions to God\, praying for our families\, our communities\, and those in need of comfort and healing. In particular\, we focus our prayers on peace in our world\, seeking divine intervention in times of conflict and unrest. As we pray\, we remember those suffering from the challenges in Ukraine and around the globe\, placing our trust in God’s grace and mercy. \nThe act of praying the rosary invites us to pause and reflect on the blessings in our lives while acknowledging the struggles we face. Together\, we ask for strength and guidance\, fostering a spirit of hope that transcends our individual experiences. \nA Welcoming Community \nWe invite all members of our parish and newcomers alike to join us for the Rosary Prayer Before Divine Liturgy. This gathering is open to everyone\, regardless of your familiarity with the rosary or your level of faith. Our community is built on love\, support\, and shared spiritual growth\, making it a welcoming place for all. \nThe Power of Collective Prayer \nThe Rosary Prayer Before Divine Liturgy exemplifies the power of collective prayer. When we come together to pray\, we create a ripple effect of positive energy that can bring about transformation in our lives and the lives of those around us. Each prayer offered is a testament to our faith and commitment to supporting one another on our spiritual journeys. \nJoin Us for This Special Occasion \nWe warmly welcome you to participate in this special occasion of faith and community. As we gather for the Rosary Prayer Before Divine Liturgy\, let us open our hearts to the grace of God and the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Your presence enriches our community and strengthens our collective prayers. \nTogether\, let us embark on this sacred journey\, seeking peace\, guidance\, and unity through our devotion. Whether you are a mother praying for your children\, a friend supporting a loved one\, or someone simply seeking solace\, we invite you to be part of this meaningful experience. \nJoin us for the Rosary Prayer Before Divine Liturgy\, where we come together in prayer\, love\, and faith. SUMMARY:The Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos - 7 PM - Різдво Пресвятої Богородиці
DESCRIPTION:The Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos\nSeptember 8 \nToday the Church celebrates the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos\, the birth of Mary\, the Mother of God. It is a feast of quiet joy\, because in the birth of this child we see the dawn of God’s saving plan drawing near. \nThe Church’s hymnography calls Mary the New Eve. Through Eve\, humanity turned away from God; through Mary’s humble “yes\,” the way was opened for the Son of God to become human. The troparion beautifully proclaims: “From you dawned the Sun of Righteousness\, Christ our God.” Mary is the dawn; Christ is the Light. \nThe Church also praises the Mother of God as a holy garden and paradise prepared by God\, in which the Tree of Life would grow. That Tree is Christ Himself\, who came to restore what was lost and to give us eternal life. \nMary’s birth therefore reminds us that God does not abandon His creation or His people. His promises are fulfilled in ways that often begin quietly—in a family\, in the birth of a child\, in a heart willing to trust Him. \nJoin us this evening\, September 8\, at 7:00 PM at Saint Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church as we gather in prayer and thanksgiving to celebrate the Nativity of the Mother of God. Let us rejoice with Joachim and Anna and ask the Mother of God to lead us always closer to her Son\, Jesus Christ.

SUMMARY:The Exaltation of the Holy Cross - 7 PM - Воздвиження Чесного і Животворящого Хреста Господнього
DESCRIPTION:The Exaltation of the Precious and Life-Giving Cross\nВоздвиження Чесного і Животворящого Хреста Господнього\nDivine Liturgy — 7:00 PM \nOn this feast\, the Church lifts up and venerates the Precious and Life-Giving Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. \nThe Cross\, once a sign of suffering\, shame\, and death\, has become for Christians the sign of Christ’s victory\, love\, and salvation. The feast recalls the ancient Christian tradition of the discovery of the Holy Cross in Jerusalem by St. Helena\, the mother of Emperor Constantine\, and its solemn veneration by the faithful. \nThe Cross also reminds us that the Cross and the Resurrection are inseparable. Through His Cross\, Christ entered fully into our suffering and death\, and through His Resurrection He opened the way to new and eternal life. \nAs we celebrate this great feast\, we are also reminded of the crosses we carry in our own lives. We do not carry them alone: Christ walks with us\, and the Cross always points beyond suffering toward the hope of Resurrection. \nPlease join us for Divine Liturgy at 7:00 PM as we venerate the Holy Cross and proclaim Christ’s victory and Resurrection. \n“To Your Cross\, O Master\, we bow in veneration\, and we glorify Your holy Resurrection.” \n

SUMMARY:Emmaus – Eparchy Youth Group @ ST. Nicholas 4-7 PM; 27 вересня – Парафія св. Миколая

Find your people.\nLooking for a place where you can meet new people\, talk openly about faith and life\, ask real questions\, and simply enjoy being together? \nEmmaus is a monthly bilingual youth gathering for teenagers ages 12–17 from across the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Edmonton. \nYou do not need to belong to a particular parish or already know everyone. Emmaus brings teenagers from different communities together to build friendships\, explore their Catholic faith\, and discover a stronger sense of belonging in the Church. \nEnglish and Ukrainian are both welcome. Participation is free. No registration is needed. \n  \nA place to learn\, ask and belong\nEmmaus is not meant to feel like another class. \nEach gathering creates space for young people to talk\, listen\, ask honest questions\, learn something new\, meet other teens and have fun together. \nFaith is part of the conversation\, but so are friendship\, everyday life\, challenges\, questions and the things that matter to young people right now. \nYou do not need to have all the answers. You just need to come. \n  \nWhat happens at Emmaus?\nEvery gathering is a little different\, but the evening usually combines prayer\, short faith formation\, conversation and social time. \nYou can expect prayer together\, short talks or guest speakers\, small-group conversations and activities\, opportunities to ask questions\, games\, food\, fellowship and time to simply connect with other young people. \nThroughout the year\, Emmaus may also include special speakers\, retreats\, service projects\, pilgrimages and other youth events. \nThe goal is simple: to create a community where teenagers can grow in faith without pressure\, build meaningful friendships and feel that they have a place in the Church. \n  \nWhat Emmaus is about\nFaith. Friendship. Questions. Community.\nEmmaus is a place where prayer and faith formation meet real conversation and real relationships. \nWe want young people to feel comfortable asking questions instead of feeling that they are expected to already know everything. We want them to meet other teenagers who share similar values. And we want the Church to become more than somewhere they occasionally attend—it can also become a community where they are known\, welcomed and supported. \n  \nWhy “Emmaus”?\nThe name Emmaus comes from the Gospel of Luke 24:13–35. \nTwo disciples were travelling on the road to Emmaus when the risen Christ began walking with them. At first\, they did not recognize Him. Through the journey\, conversation and eventually the breaking of bread\, their eyes were opened and they recognized Jesus. \nEmmaus Youth Group takes inspiration from that journey.Sometimes we encounter Christ in obvious moments of prayer. Other times\, we recognize Him through a conversation\, a friendship\, a question\, a shared meal or an ordinary moment.Emmaus gives young people a place to make that journey together. \n  \nWho can come?\nEmmaus is for teenagers ages 12–17.Young people from all parishes across Edmonton and the Eparchy are welcome. \nYou can come with friends or come on your own. You can be very involved in church\, just beginning to explore your faith\, or simply curious about the group. \nThere is a place for you here. \n  \nUpcoming Emmaus Gatherings\n\nCost: Free; Languages: English / Ukrainian; Ages: 12–17; Registration: Not required. \n  \nCome Join Us\nYou do not need to prepare anything\, register in advance or already know someone in the group. \nBring yourself. This midweek service allows our congregation to come together to deepen our faith\, find solace in prayer\, and connect. \nThe Significance of the Divine Liturgy\nThe Divine Liturgy is the central act of worship in the Ukrainian Catholic tradition. It is a sacred celebration where we gather as a community to honour and remember the life\, death\, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. During this service\, we participate in the Holy Eucharist\, which is the foundation of our faith and a source of spiritual nourishment. \nWednesdays are particularly special\, offering a pause in the week for spiritual renewal and connection with God. Whether you are a longtime member of our parish or a newcomer seeking a spiritual home\, you are warmly invited to join us for this uplifting experience. \nA Welcoming Environment for All\nOur Weekly Divine Liturgy on Wednesdays is designed to be accessible and welcoming for everyone\, including families and individuals of all ages. We encourage parents to bring their children\, as this is a wonderful opportunity to instill the values of faith and community from a young age. \nThe atmosphere during the Divine Liturgy is warm and inviting\, creating a sense of belonging for all attendees. We strive to make every participant feel at home\, allowing them to engage fully in the worship experience. \nJoin Us for Weekly Worship\nWe invite you to make the Weekly Divine Liturgy on Wednesdays a part of your spiritual journey.\nThis midweek gathering offers a unique chance to recharge spiritually\, reflect on the Word of God\, and connect with fellow parishioners. Through prayer\, music\, and shared faith\, we can support one another in our journeys of faith.
